It is a great pleasure to welcome you to the 33rd congress of the Scandianvian Society of Anaesthsiology and Intensive Care (SSAI) to be held in Reykjavik, Iceland, 10-12th of June 2015.
SSAI is an umbrella organization of the anaesthesia societies in Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden and hosts a congress every other year, alternatively in the five countries. The congress usually gathers around 800-1000 participants from many different countries, the congress language is English.
Our goal is to offer an excellent scientific program and an outstanding exhibition of the latest treatment options and technology. Even if our theme is „Matters of the Heart“, we will seek to cover most aspects of anaesthesia, intensive care, pain and emergency medicine. An international faculty of renowned experts will cover the field in six parallel sessions. Further, two pre-congress courses will be organized for June 9th.
Our congress venue is the magnificent Harpa, Reykjavik´s new concert hall and conference center, recently awarded the prestigious World Architecture Award. Harpa is located at the waterfront in Reykjavik City Centrum, close to most of the congress hotels, restaurants, shopping areas and art galleries.
Iceland is at its best in June. The sun hardly sets with summer days that are never ending, giving opportunities to enjoy various outdoor activities after a successful day at the congress. We therefore offer a varied social program with events before or after congress hours. We also offer pre and post congress tours so you can further explore our fantastic Icelandic nature, including glaciers, lavafields, waterfalls and geysers, giving opportunity to combine the congress with a summer holiday.
We look forward to seeing you in Iceland 2015, on behalf of SSAI and the Iceland Congress Committee,
Alma D. Möller, Congress President
